Meet our 2024 Vancouver Island Valedictorian Graduates

Written on 07/29/2024

We are proud to introduce our 2024 Vancouver Island valedictorian graduates from our Victoria and Nanaimo campuses. It took hard work and dedication for each of our valedictorians to excel in their respective programs and we are proud to have them represent Sprott Shaw College as they embark on their new careers. You can find our favourite excerpts from the valedictorian speeches they gave at their graduation ceremonies below.

Victoria Valedictorian: Mattie McCulloch – Medical Office Administrator

Mattie McCulloch, our valedictorian representing the Victoria campus, spoke about her experience during her program, the support she received from her family, and the value of education.

“At its core, education goes beyond academics, it’s about cultivating empathy, resilience, and curiosity. It’s about embracing new challenges and growing from them. Education encourages us to reach out, to collaborate, and to build meaningful relationships. It’s through this that we gain a deeper understanding of the world and ourselves.”

Nanaimo Valedictorian: Vargha Webb – Early Childhood Education

Vargha Webb, our valedictorian representing the Nanaimo campus, spoke about a memorable project she completed during her program, thanked her classmates and family for their support, and shared her experiences as a mature student.

“Inspired by my own path as a mature student, who faced and embraced the challenges of returning to education, I urge each of us to chase our dreams with relentless courage. Let this be a call to action for all of us: to pursue our aspirations with unwavering determination, knowing that we are capable of overcoming whatever lies ahead.”

Thank you to all our 2024 Vancouver Island valedictorians for their impactful speeches and congratulations to all our Victoria and Nanaimo graduates! We can’t wait to see your future successes as you embark on your new careers.
