Celebrating Sprott Shaw Grant & Scholarship Winners

Did you know that Sprott Shaw College offers a variety of grants and scholarships to help our students with their post-secondary education? In fact, Sprott Shaw gave out over $650,000 in grants and scholarships just last year! Whether you are looking to enroll in a specific program right out of high school or are a former Sprott Shaw graduate looking to change career paths, you could be eligible for up to $4000 in scholarships and grants!

In this blog post, we took the opportunity to highlight some of our recent scholarship winners across the province and congratulate them on their accomplishments.

Ciara Bigland – Anna Sprott Scholarship

Congratulations to our Kamloops student, Ciara Bigland, for earning the $2000 Anna Sprott Scholarship for her Business Administration – Bookkeeping program. The Anna Sprott Scholarship is open to any woman enrolling in a Business program.

In her application for the scholarship, Ciara shared how “with this support, I am confident that I can continue to thrive academically and personally, making a positive impact in my community and beyond…I am eager to continue my journey of learning and contribute to a brighter future for myself and those around me.”

Anninderjit Kaur Flora – Passing It Forward Scholarship

Congratulations to Anninderjit Kaur Flora, an online student enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Basic program, for earning the $1500 Passing It Forward Scholarship towards her program. The Passing It Forward Scholarship is open to students interested in a career in the childcare and education sectors.

Anninderjit shared her excitement towards her program and future career sharing how “embracing early childhood education as my career, I embark on a journey fueled by passion, guided by purpose, and illuminated by gratitude. With every lesson taught, every hug shared, and every heart touched, I am reminded of the profound privilege it is to shape the future, one child at a time.”

Jo-Ann Barson – Personal Growth and Fortitude Scholarship

Congratulations to Jo-Ann Barson, a Health Care Assistant student from our Chilliwack campus, for earning the $2000 Personal Growth and Fortitude Scholarship towards her program. The Personal Growth and Fortitude Scholarship is available to Healthcare students who have exhibited fortitude in undertaking the challenges of mental health with family/friends or within the community.

In speaking about her program, Jo-Ann shared how “Since I was 16 years old, I have worked in the health field…Our community is in need of Health Care Assistants, in homes or in facilities…With my past experience, I feel I would be a great asset to our city.”

Danielle Valentine – Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation Scholarship

Congratulations to Danielle Valentine, a Legal Office Administrator student in Victoria, for earning the Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation Scholarship. The Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship that covers the complete cost of the program and is available to non-sponsored First Nations, Métis, or Inuit-identified persons.

In regards to her program and receiving the scholarship, Danielle shared how “Indigenous representation remains an imperative yet often forgotten demographic in the legal market. As Indigenous peoples navigate complex legal systems, the need for culturally sensitive and competent support becomes increasingly in demand…. I look forward to significantly contributing to promoting healing and justice within my community and society.”

Kaitlyn Sullivan – Practical Nursing Scholarship

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Sullivan, a Practical Nursing student from our Vancouver campus, for earning the $3000 Practical Nursing Scholarship towards her program. The Practical Nursing Scholarship is open to all students enrolling in the Practical Nursing program.

Kaitlyn spoke about her excitement about becoming a nurse, sharing how “as a daughter of a nurse, I have always thought that I would make a good candidate for this role. My mother inspires me in many ways, and following in her footsteps is something that I am very excited and passionate about.”
